The Emerald Choir is open to all 4th and 5th graders. We will rehearse on Wednesday mornings from 7:45 - 8:30. Our first rehearsal is Wednesday, September 25th! There is NO FEE to sign up for choir - we do ask for a donation of $5 from families that are able to contribute (cash or checks made out to "Emerald Elementary" can be give to Ms. Sorbo at any time). This money is used to purchase t-shirts for choir members, as well as purchase new music.

4th and 5th grade students have the opportunity to participate in Mr. Chavez's intramural sports program. It will run through March, from 7:10-7:40 am on Monday mornings. If your Dragon wants to play, they must pick up and fill out a permission form from Mr. Chavez. Forms must be filled out by their legal guardian and returned to Mr. Chavez. There is no charge to play. If you have any questions feel free to contact Mr. Chavez.

Lunch bunch is an extra art time that is available for 5th graders during their lunch and recess.  During this time, students who choose to attend get to explore special projects in a small group setting such as puppets, stitching, weaving, and papier mache.  This allows 5th graders an opportunity to extend their learning and explore their passions.

Morning Movement: a series of movement activities and exercises that support brain balance and calm for students as needed, led by the specials teachers every morning

Affirmation Alley: an affirmation is a positive word or phrase repeated to focus the mind and quiet the body, supporting the transition from a high energy activity back to green zone learning.  It should only take a mindful minute.

We give each child in our school a chance to identify one adult at the school who they know cares about them, has a connection with them, and would be a person to go to on a bad and/or a great day.  Our hope is that all dragons can identify one adult staff member who they connect with, but if they cannot identify any adult, that gives us important information and we intervene. For most kids, it’s fun to pick/identify a dragon buddy.  Ask your child who they picked as a Dragon Buddy! Please note - we’ve told the kids that Dragon Buddies do check in’s, smiles, and hugs, not birthday gifts, special outings or activities, or home fun stuff.
