Academics

We follow the BVSD curriculum in all subject areas. BVSD’s curriculum is based on the Common Core Standards.   Emerald uses a balanced literacy approach that includes all components of reading and writing (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension).  Our balanced literacy program is taught with real world books that promote a life long love of reading.  Our math resource is Math Expressions which uses a blended approach to math instruction. This includes traditional algorithms as well as innovative approaches to understanding numbers.
