Student Rights & Responsibilities
Every student's success is rooted in support from home.
Parent Information Night is on Sept. 6th from 6:30-7:30pm. Please join us . If you are interested in volunteering this year and have not completed your background check, we will have someone at Emerald during this event doing fingerprinting. The cost is $40.00. The advantage to fingerprinting is you never have to do another background check as long as you have a student at BVSD. TC Logic background checks are only good for one school year.
BVSD Emergency Notification System:
BVSD uses School Messenger to send important email and phone messages to parents. School Messenger gets its contact information directly from Infinite Campus for students. Parents/guardians and employees should make sure their contact information is current. School staff handle updates to contact information related to student records in Infinite Campus, so parents who need to update their phone numbers and/or email addresses for our message system should start by contacting their child's school. The school has no access to your account on Contact Manager, please notify the office of any address, email or phone changes. Contact Manager is an optional, free feature of School Messenger

BVSD’s online guide, Community Connections:
Resources for Kids & Teens can be found at
This school year we are pleased to debut a new and improved Community Connections with a fresh design and user-friendly format. The goal of Community Connections is to connect the BVSD community with groups and individuals offering youth-oriented activities and services. Categories include academics and tutoring, health and support services, camps and classes, sports and fitness, the arts, teens, adventure, college planning and more. We strive throughout the year to make Community Connections a valuable resource for fun, educational and transformative opportunities for kids and teens.
To learn more about Community Connections or to discuss advertising options, please contact Marla Riley at 720-561-5250 or
Class parties are held throughout the school year and it is up to the classroom teacher on the times and type of parent help they may need. Check with your child's classroom teacher on how to help with parties.
Coffee with the Principal:
Coffee with the Principal is an informal gathering where parents can meet other parents and talk with Samara Williams. It is held several times throughout the school year and starts around 8:05 a.m. after the morning announcements in the library. Coffee and tea are available. Check the school calendar for the next Coffee with the Principal.
Fired Up Assemblies:
Fired up assemblies are held on the last day of the month for students, staff and parents. One student from each class is recognized for outstanding academic performance and receives a certificate and Dragon Pride t-shirt. Students can also earn Fired Up Tickets during the month for their academic excellence and their name may be drawn to win a prize during the assembly. Receiving a Fired Up Ticket means the student is working hard at school and learning. Parents are welcome to come and cheer on the students.
