    Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How are students identified for the program?
A: There are several ways we identify students for the program:
    · Math Screener: We administer a grade level screener for every student at Emerald Elementary in the fall. This screener is one piece of evidence that a student might be struggling in one or more areas of mathematics.
    · Unit Tests: Grade level teachers give unit pre tests that help identify students struggling on a particular unit.
    · Homework Assignments/ Classwork
    · TCAP score from the previous year (4th & 5th grade)
Q: How is math support delivered?
A: Title math support can vary depending on grade level, classroom teacher and time of year. It is always supplemental and is in addition to first time math instruction with the classroom teacher (a “double dip”). The following are some different delivery models:
    · Push-in/co-teach: Title math teacher goes into the classroom for the last 30-40 min of the math block and supports most students.
    · Push-in/pull aside: Title math teacher goes into the classroom for the last 30-40 min of the math block and pulls a small group aside within the classroom to provide intervention.
    · Pull-out: Title math teacher pulls a small group out of the classroom for the last 30-40 min of the math block to provide intervention.
